AFTER reaping billions from China through a 71 per cent iron ore price increase this year, BHP Billiton is giving some back. It is offering a few kilograms of gold, silver, copper and tin to forge the medals for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, plus financial support. Company chief executive Chip Goodyear said yesterday the company signed up as Diversified Minerals and Medals Sponsor of the Games. Wang Wei, of the Beijing Olympic organising committee, said that with the support of BHP Billiton, the Beijing Games' need for minerals would be fully met. -- HAMISH McDONALD
